Underwater Museum

]After receiving SEMARNAT approval of its environmental impact study, Playa del Carmen will have an Underwater Museum. The total investment will be $6,500,912 USD, including the cost for installation, technical supervision, and environmental monitoring.

The project, sponsored by Thetys S.A. de C.V. company, will be located in an area of 3,275 square meters, and will have structures and sculptures underwater to create underwater landscapes.

It will be located in the marine zone of Playa Mamitas and will be divided into two areas: a marine museum and an aquatic park with 943 underwater artificial reefs. The first sections will be located 11 meters deep, approximately 600 meters off the coast, and the last 35 meters deep, at a distance of 1.3 kilometers off the coast.
